The Feast X Underworld Abyss

‘The FEAST’ is a living diorama and immersive food installation, staged within the deep sea theatre performance and drag show Underworld Abyss at Mahalla, Berlin. Set inside the imagined carcass of a fallen whale, the tablescape becomes both ocean floor and body. An altar to the abyss where creatures gather to honor and consume. Entirely plant-based, the spread transforms food into metaphor: marinated watermelon (fake tuna vegan sushi) becomes the flesh of the whale, spirulina evokes the depths of blue water, and algae conjures the taste of the sea. The creatures of the abyss mirror the queer community itself, gathering in darkness and splendor around the fallen whale, to feast, to honor, and to celebrate survival. Together, performers and audience join in a ritual banquet where nourishment, decay, and transformation collapse into one—an edible ecosystem of the underworld.
