Nature's signatures
At Luisa Catucci Gallery in Berlin Mitte, we presented a food installation exploring a continuous chain of translation: just as nature informed the artists' vision, their work became the foundation for our culinary exploration. Responding to the NATURE’S SIGNATURES exhibition, we metabolized static artworks into a synesthetic, edible medium, focusing on color, texture, sound, and organic composition. Zak van Biljon’s infrared landscapes — where the green of chlorophyll turns into striking crimson — were mirrored through the use of natural red pigments like beetroot, subverting visual expectations. Tom Kretschmer’s focus on rhythm was turned into an experience of sound and touch. The sharp crunch of fragile crackers against viscous, slow-moving sauces brought the wild rhythms of nature directly to the palate. Finally, Samanta Malavasi’s root patterns became our floor plan, letting organic growth dictate how the food inhabited the tablescape. If art imitates life, and life imitates art, here food imitates both, turning the act of eating into a radical exploration of perception.
